The ASTM A955/A955M Standard Specification for Deformed and Plain Stainless-Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement is the main Standard for stainless steel rebar in the USA and Canada. The dimensional bar profiles and grade structure (strengths) follow their respective carbon steel standards.
Where this Standard diverges from carbon steel standards is the informational content relating to the numerous types of stainless bar that meet the standard, specific chemistry details, reference to corrosion resistance requirements, specification of magnetic permeability requirements, surface finish and pickling instructions, and most importantly, a set of mandatory corrosion tests. This is manufacturer specific and not alloy designation specific.
