654 SMO (UNS S32654/ W.Nr. 1.4652)
654 SMO (UNS S32654 / W.Nr. 1.4652) is a super austenitic stainless steel containing 23% nickel, 25% chromium and
7% molybdenum. Its corrosion resistance is comparable to that of the best nickel-based alloy. As the nitrogen content
of 654SMo is twice as high as 254SMo, its intensity is higher than 904L and 254SMo. There are two smelting method
for 654SMo super austenitic stainless steel: 1) the currently popular argon-oxygen decarburization refining smelting in
abroad -VOD or AOD; 2)continuous casting method used for producing stainless steel.

UNS S32654 (1.4652, 654SMO) is a type of special stainless steel containing a high percentage of Nickel and Chromium, containing 7% molybdenum, and very high Nitrogen, High mechanical strength. 654SMO (1.4652, UNS S32654) is stainless steel with the highest corrosion resistance in the world. It has a fairly high electrical conductivity among wrought super austenitic stainless steel. In addition, it has a fairly low thermal conductivity and moderately high ductility.

 

Useful for e.g. pressurized and erosive systems handling chlorinated seawater at higher temperatures, plate heat exchangers, and flue gas cleaning applications.

Feature of 654SMO Stainless Steel

 

Due to its high molybdenum, when 654S MO super austenitic stainless steel is subjected to seamless pipe perforation, it is hard and sticky, easy to get eccentric or crack. To avoid the risk in perforation, our company chooses to punch holes in the center of round steels and then directly put on the rolling mill for cold rolling or cold drawing to produce seamless pipe. Although the cost is increased, it secures high success rate.

 

654SMo (S32654, 1.4652) super austenitic stainless steel features very good local corrosion resistance, good pitting resistance and good stress corrosion resistance under seawater, aeration, gap and low speed scouring conditions. It can be used as a good substitute to nickel-based alloys and titanium alloys. When it comes to high-temperature resistance or corrosion resistance, it is also superior to 904L and 254SMo
